This weekend will mark the end of a major journey for one of my clients Glenn Hawkins.
March 2011 a very unfit, overweight but extremely determined gentleman (welsh bloke) came to me for personal training. We discussed many aspects one of them being goals to work towards and the following week Glenn came back to me saying he had entered the London Marathon 2012!! I was very impressed with his enthusiasm and really hoped he was willing to give 100% to achieving this goal as it was a big one that required a lot of dedication, commitment and training.
So we got to it making sure Glenn had all the knowledge and help he needed regarding nutrition and training to set him on the right track and to get him from (tipping the scales at just under 20st January 2011) 18stone down to a lean and fit runner.
Here we are just over a year down the line and Glenn is a super lean, mean running machine!! I am sure you have seen his pictures on here and are aware that he has lost in excess of 8st, making sure he can achieve his goal and complete his journey. Going from a 50 inch waist to a 30 inch waist in under a year is amazing and ANYBODY is capable of doing this.
We are also running the marathon with another of my clients Simon Hellowell who has been Personal Training with me for over 2 years now. Simon went from struggling to run 5k to running half marathons in 8 months shifting 2st and now he is going to be a marathon runner after London this Sunday!! Never been a keen exerciser or runner Simon has totally changed his outlook to it and really enjoys the whole experience even venturing out on his own to get the miles in if his running buddies have been busy. This combined with the correct nutritional lifestyle has helped Simon get where he is today, not one for passing up a drink he can still enjoy his party weekends but also keep it in perspective when training for runs.
You do not have to be a runner to get these results, you do not have to train for hours on end. All you need to do is learn how to train smart and be given the CORRECT NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION (no faddy diets, no magic pills, no myths). To get what you want in life you have to work for it so why do people thinking being fit and healthy should be any different! Once you have the know how though you will see how truly easy it is!
Luckily for you guys you have me to help you with all of that. My Personal Training is not about getting you in the gym and beasting you for an hour, long gone are those days. What I want to do is get your body functioning properly, so when you do workout you can work to your maximum, firing up all those major big muscles that burn the most fat, high intensity interval training – short burst of intense exercise for short periods of time (HIIT) that is where we are at, but also deal with the issues that are causing you to feel the way you do, over eat and lack the confidence. Give you the nutritional know how so that you can make the lifestyle changes needed that will set you on the path to happiness forever.

This is great if you cannot afford a one to one personal trainer (sorry guys you have to suffer me on a one to one basis).
Anyway where was I before I got on my soap box………………………………………..ah yes the London Marathon 2012 – will be an emotional day, an amazing day and a first for all 3 of us to smash 26.2 miles!! I would not want to be anywhere else or running with anyone else then Glenn & Si Well, well boys this is it, you know you pair are true inspirations to so many people including me
